An assessment item (82000 psychology, 82005 speech pathology, 82010 occupational therapy, 82030 audiology, dietetics, exercise physiology, optometry, orthoptics or physiotherapy) applies only where the service assists the referring doctor with diagnostic formulation for a suspected condition, or contributes to the doctor's treatment and management plan for a confirmed one, and is given to the patient individually and in person for at least 50 minutes; report writing does not count towards the time.
