Australia Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth)
Parts VI and VII: Claims interest, renewal, expiry and cancellation – Australia Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth)

Australia Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth) s58: s 58 Notify the insured of expiry at least 14 days before renewable cover ends

For renewable general insurance cover (cover for a period that is usually renewed or renegotiated), at least 14 days before it expires the insurer gives the insured or the insured's agent written notice of the expiry date and time and whether it is prepared to negotiate renewal. If it fails to and the insured has not replaced the cover, a new contract on the same terms arises by force of the Act for the same period (or until replacement), with premium payable only if a claim is made.
