The ICA promotes the Code among customers and among industry participants yet to adopt it, working with the Committee, ASIC and other regulators to encourage adoption, and the insurer works with the ICA to promote and champion the Code: it provides information about the Code and the Committee on its websites, in product information and elsewhere, works with the ICA on general information to help customers access insurance and on programmes promoting insurance, financial literacy and the industry, and supports ICA education initiatives. The ICA develops the Code in consultation with the Committee, AFCA, consumer and industry representatives, regulators and other stakeholders, commissions a formal independent review at least every 3 years, and may receive Committee recommendations on Code improvements, promotion, education, catastrophe coordination and the complaints process. The insurer must comply with any additional obligations and binding standards the ICA introduces to the Code, and the ICA may issue non-binding best practice guides to help insurers meet their obligations.
