A supplier may use an endorsement if it retains the prescribed records through the information period and produces them for the authority when asked; the endorsement must not be therapeutic and the endorsing body must be independent. The required records show the body's permission, its nutrition or health related function, its not for profit status and independence. The period runs while the food is for sale and two years after the last sale. An importer keeps the records as if it were the supplier. An endorsement must not refer to a serious disease except where it is part of the endorsing body's name.
