Division 4: Nutrition content claims – Australia Food Standards Code Standard 1.2.7 Nutrition, Health and Related Claims

Australia Food Standards Code Standard 1.2.7 Nutrition, Health and Related Claims 1.2.7-12: Meet the Schedule 4 conditions before making a nutrition content claim about a listed property

For a property of food in the nutrition content claims table, the food must meet the general conditions, and any descriptor in the table or a synonym needs the specific conditions (the specific condition prevails over a general one). Descriptors for lactose and trans fatty acids must be those in the table or their synonyms. Glycaemic load descriptors must be numeric. Gluten claims may only use table descriptors with gluten, or state that the food contains or is high in gluten. Other descriptors, including numbers, can be used with a listed property, subject to the ban on implying slimming effects.
