The calculations rest on the Section E definitions. Adjusted assets are the licensee's assets less excluded assets (intangibles such as goodwill and capitalised software unless ASIC agrees, receivables from and investments in related parties except as permitted, deferred tax assets beyond the offset, assets subject to a charge beyond the related liability, and the right-of-use asset for leases) and after the standard adjustments; adjusted liabilities are total liabilities less approved subordinated debt and the lease liability treatment the guide sets, plus contingent liabilities and sub-underwriting commitments weighted as described; net tangible assets are adjusted assets less adjusted liabilities with the further exclusions for licensees subject to an NTA requirement; liquid assets are cash and assets convertible to cash within a short period at a predictable value; eligible undertakings are enforceable commitments from eligible providers (Australian ADIs, foreign deposit-taking institutions and insurers ASIC accepts, prudentially regulated parents) to pay on demand, unlimited or for a stated amount, that ASIC counts as capital or liquidity; and ASIC approves subordinated debt only where it is subordinated to all other creditors, cannot be repaid unless ASIC consents, and meets the other stated terms. Licensees must apply the definitions consistently and document the classification of each balance sheet item.
