Extra care is needed near earth situations, earth wires, conductive fittings and concrete or metal poles. When working on isolated LV lines carried on conductive poles or structures (and wooden poles carrying exposed earth downleads or bonding leads, LV neutrals excepted), the lines must be temporarily connected electrically to each pole or structure, unless the line is treated as live under live work procedures, work is from an insulated EWP placed to prevent simultaneous contact with pole and conductor, or exposed conductive parts are effectively covered with insulation. Precautions must stop equipment or conducting materials, building materials included, from encroaching on minimum safe approach distances to exposed live conductors while being erected; if that cannot be achieved, the conductors must be de-energized.
