Section 11 covers fire blankets made to AS/NZS 3504 and installed with location signs to AS 2444. Blankets used on a fire are discarded. Service labels (no more than 90 mm by 50 mm) go on the container, never over manufacturer labels or the tag and never on the blanket itself; each blanket has a permanent unique identification mark. Blankets are serviced at intervals of no more than 6 months and whenever defects are suspected: check the blanket is conspicuous, in place, accessible and installed to AS 2444; check the location sign; check the container is securely supported, clean, undamaged, carries legible instructions and a service tag; and take the blanket out to check for damage or contamination, secure hand-holds and correct folding, then repack it as the manufacturer directs.
