Tie-down continuity runs from roof sheeting to foundations, using the uplift load width to set the uplift force at each joint (from net uplift pressure, ULW and spacing, or the uplift force tables), the joint group of the timber (weakest part governs), and a connection detail from the capacity tables; gravity loads may offset uplift; wall frame tie-down spacing is at most 1800 mm except at openings; coupled roofs in set wind and roof combinations may be tied down like trussed roofs if the listed extra connections are made. The 2021 revision added a metal tie-down detail compatible with AS 4773 and Amendment 1 revised Tables 9.19 and 9.20; values not asserted.
