For a compilation of general purpose or of special purpose financial statements the Member obtains a written acknowledgement in which the client accepts responsibility for reliable, accurate and complete accounting records and for disclosing all material and relevant information. The Member should tell the client that it retains responsibility for the financial information and the basis of preparation, including selecting accounting policies and developing reasonable estimates. For other compilations the Member assesses whether a written acknowledgement is needed given the circumstances. The acknowledgement may form part of other written representations.
