AASB 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements
Aggregation, disaggregation and offsetting (paragraphs 41 to 45) – AASB 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements

AASB 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements 41-43: Aggregate items on shared characteristics, disaggregate on characteristics that differ, never obscure material information, and label every item so that it faithfully represents its content

What does 41-43 require?

Items (assets, liabilities, equity, income, expenses, cash flows and any aggregation or disaggregation of them) must be classified and aggregated on shared characteristics and disaggregated where characteristics are not shared; the resulting line items in the primary statements must serve the structured summary role, the note disclosures must serve the material information role, and neither aggregation nor disaggregation may obscure material information. Items must be disaggregated whenever the result is material, and material information not presented on the face must be disclosed in the notes. Totals, subtotals, line items and note items must be labelled and described so they faithfully represent their characteristics, with all descriptions, explanations and definitions a user needs.
