The opening statement of financial position and the accounting policies behind it (paragraphs 6 to 12 and Aus12.1) – AASB 1 First-time Adoption of Australian Accounting Standards

AASB 1 First-time Adoption of Australian Accounting Standards 6: Prepare and present an opening statement of financial position at the date of transition as the starting point for accounting under the Standards

What does 6 require?

At the date of transition (the start of the earliest period for which full comparatives under the Standards are presented) the entity draws up an opening statement of financial position under Australian Accounting Standards and presents it in its first statements. Everything that follows, including the comparatives and the reconciliations, is built from this opening position. Tier 2 entities using Simplified Disclosures prepare it but need not present it (Appendix F).
